I work in public education...it is even worse than you can imagine.
Thought I could be a beacon of light and fight the good fight. But it is a rigged system...the biggest qualm I have is they took away any and all accountability. We are literally raising a generation that thinks the solution to every problem is to seek a safe space or make enough noise to get their way. Kids today break when even the slightest amount of pressure of is applied.
Of course their are exceptions, but I would say 95% of the kids coming through the public education system will be illy prepared for the world...but the other question I ask is what will that world even look like when they enter it, will it even matter?
You don't have to tell me. I know. I was a TAG teacher assistant when I was in college. My mom has been in the school systems for long time and in the 90, we told her to retired. I saw it coming.
