Sometimes I think it goes WAY back. Was just reading about Charlie Chaplin's tunnels and Errol Flynn's two-way mirrors.

I imagine it didn't take too long to set in. Old Hollywood certainly had to be a true magic spell at the time. People were being told that they could indeed be larger than life, and it turn, would be asked what they would do for such privilege....and that they would do to remain in the spot. Anyone that grew up the 1980's like I did, you'll know that everyone lived and breathed the movies of the day. Imagine what it would be like at the very beginning
