She is in hospital in Vancouver.
“Maya’s classmate ran for cover, and Maya spent an extra few seconds trying to lock the door,” said Hunt. “She was not successful.” .... The door lock was broken and it wouldn’t lock properly.
The shooter smashed through the door as Maya ran for shelter under a desk. But it was too late. The shooter fired one shot. It grazed Maya’s cheek and ear. The second and third bullets hit Maya in the head and neck.
Deep blue valor. "Medal of Honor" type stuff. This is so heartbreaking.
😭😭
To add insult to injury, some scumbag cut open the tonneau cover on the families truck and stole some golf clubs and Maya's paddle-board.

What she continues to go through. She's in bad shape and sadly her prognosis is very grim. Please keep them in your prayers.
I have seen some shit in the past 35 years of digging so I'm usually pretty stoic but I can't get her out of my head, especially when I learned of her epic bravery. She is the best of humanity, so young, so pure. Not ashamed to admit that I wept for her. Then when I read about the theft of her paddle board I actually trembled with rage and had to take some time off and do breathing exercises. It's just petty theft of a toy, I know, but something about it set me off I guess.
I'm back to myself now, lots of prayer and a little scotch did the trick.

Amongst all the news, there are some things that hit hard. God bless you.
You too Fren.
