My point was if it isn't a virus then what is causing the sickness?

It has to be a parasite. Even bacteria are parasites.

You said no one has seen one as if that implies it doesn't exist. That aside there do seem to be electron microscope images of the protein coat surrounding viruses. A virus by definition is parasitic.
