I believe the people really do want the prince. I sure can't second guess this. Worried their new leader will be a CIA/ Mossad puppet if it not him, but that is not to say he is perfect, I'm sure he isn't. I just remember the Shah very well and what my Iranian friends lost, when he was deposed. Like huge estates of land and homes taken away.

My Middle East knowledge is a little rusty, but didn't we regime change Iran in the 1950's and install the Shah, because the previous guy didn't agree with us on oil sales, and then the Shah was so unpopular, that the ayatollahs were allowed to take over in 1979?
