I went there. They tried throwing me in jail for kissing my gf in public once. It's a beautiful city but weird culture. Half the men walk around holding hands with each other.
I would 100% recommend anyone who does not spend the time or have the wherewithal to research the foreign culture/laws they’ll be visiting…..don’t leave the USA for your own good,
I have a coworker who went there on her honeymoon. She was arrested and nearly spent a long time in jail because her last name did not match her husband's. (They just didn't do it yet).
That must've been before 2010 when they decriminalized that whole mess. Since then hotels don't check marriage certificates and they don't give a shit who you travel with. I went there for work two years ago and my coworker brought his girlfriend who refused to wear a burka the whole time and they had zero issues.
