I believe that the US covers around 16% of NATO costs which was $567 million in 2023.

Stop conflating the US defence budget with what it pays towards NATO. It is not a difficult concept so why do you persist with this untruth?

You are confusing money paid directly to NATO with countries' total defence spending.

There are three separate amounts of interest here:

The money paid directly to NATO to run the system.
The amount countries have agreed to spend on defence because they are in NATO.
The amount they actually spend on defence.
