Weenie Presidents/leaders have been dragging the US along for several reasons:

(a) their financial gain (b) their power and influence (c) their needy egos and fears (d) totally delusional (i.e., AOC mindset)

Strong Presidents have stood up to those who screamed Death to America (Reagan - the joke then: What's flat and glows on election day? IRAN)

When he was elected, the Hostages were released. Go figure.
