My Moluccan Cockatoo began screaming and falling in its cage. Vet detected enlarged liver and spleen and high white blood cell count. Blood test was negative for standard things that cause this which is often chlamydia. We gave two rounds of antibiotics anyway before blood test was back. Doctor wanted to do biopsy for cancer diagnosis. I declined. Bird got worse over a few months. Puffing up on bottom of cage. I decided he’d die fast on fenbendazole or slow by cancer so it was time to try. First dose he seemed quite better after three days. Waited over week and half and he was getting bad again. Next dise and he was better and acting more normally. Dosed him after 5 days again and he had a night of maybe being dizzy but he seemed better. Whatever it is, the fenbendazole has really turned things around. He sings and plays and mostly doesn’t scream at night. I feel it really attacked the disease fast. I’ll do a few more just to be sure we wipe out the problem but thought I’d share. This is 100% true but I can’t say for sure it was cancer. Biopsies tend to make it spread so I can’t be sure since we didn’t info that but we had run out of options. For what it’s worth…
