The real problem is unproductive rent-seeking. Pure capitalism would mostly solve it only in theory. In actual reality, what we see everywhere in all systems is the growth of a parasite elite.

In socialist systems this parasite grows much quicker by design (socialism puts parasites first by decree).

But the current banker class that financialized away the awesome might of US industry are the same sort of parasite
