They operate under what is called "state capitalism". They allow private businesses, but strategic resources (energy, banking, defense, etc) are controlled by the government, almost completely. It's also an oligarchy, where the vast majority of wealth is controlled by a select few, who mostly have ties to people in the government.
They no longer have a flat tax rate. In 2021, they increased the tax rate for those in the upper tax bracket. Soooo...does that make them Socialists now, since that's a progressive tax rate?
No dog in this hunt but respectfully how is an Ogliarchy different than what we have? We have political “families “ owned by shadow groups who choose who gets to run and who isi chosen. Like I said no dog in the hunt I don’t trust anyone except by what they actually do. I just don’t see how an open Ogliarchy is different than a shadow one. I can’t hate them anymore than our “allies” that seem to do us a lot of damage. JS
Yep. All true. They also don't have free speech protections or anything like a 2nd ammendment. Fully 64% of the population requires state welfare to meet daily food requirements.
You may find it interesting that Russia is 15% Muslim, compared to the USA which is 1.4%
When I study modern Russia, I find it hard to see how Americans would be happy living there. Compelled military service wouldn't be attractive to most in The States.
Anyone that has actually been there, or lived there, or knows people who recently left there have a hugely different view of it.
And, sorry, but I'm a kid of the 80s. The Regean Era completely indoctrinated me to not trust them.
I'm not saying I hate them or I'm against certain things they do. I simply do not trust them.
And yes, Russian troll and propaganda farms are real.
I find it ironic that people who are absolutely convinced that everyone online who claim to be against Trump and all the people at the No Kings rallies and such are all either bots (the online stuff, obviously) are being paid to pretend to be Democrats or Socialists or liberals turn around and sing the praises of Russia, who literally has the government paying people to work in troll and propaganda farms.
They are still commies.
No, they're not.
Russia is actually one of the most capitalist countries today. They even have a low, flat income tax. A progressive tax rate is socialist.
I dated one. They are.
Most of them outside of moscow and st pete rave how better it was during soviet and want that back apposed to the bullshit they get now.
Two things.

I 100% agree that it's just an open version of what we operate under in the US.
But how often do you see people complaining here about the Deep State and cabal doing the same thing here? Because I see it frequently.
Another irony that people are gushing about a country that publicly supports the same thing they complain about here.

Agreed. They just see the idolized version of it.

It's almost funny, if it wasn't so stupid.
