CA is beholden to the market price of world oil... even though it has some of the largest reserves and infrastructure to extract and refine those reserves. Oil Companies have been fleeing the state for decades. Union Oil(Unocal) was smart and exited the state almost 30 years ago. Chevron has moved its HQ and has scaled its foot print in CA to the bare bones. Oil Wells are being converted to CO2 sequestration. Its bleak... and only going to get worse.
Trump admin green lit Sable Offshore to start processing oil from their platform(s). CA then moved to revoke its pipeline from said platform(s) because it passes through a State Park. You think that pipeline was put across a State Park in secret? No it was fully authorized.. but that is the state of affairs in present day CA.
