You take that position because you don't understand that Iran isn't the enemy. Yes, the mullahs must be defeated to get to the enemy, but they are just a speedbump.

We're fighting proxy wars (Venezuela, Iran) because they are pieces that have to be removed from the board. This isn't like Viet Nam (a different proxy war) where we weren't allowed to win.
