This one has always piqued my curiosity. The Emergency Broadcast System (known as EBS, not EMS) hasn't existed in almost 30 years.
EMS isn't a commonly used acronym in relation to anything similar to what is known as EAS, in the context of the Q drop.
The Emergency Broadcast System (EBS) was replaced by the Emergency Alert System (EAS) on January 1, 1997. While the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) approved the new digital system in November 1994, it was fully implemented nationwide at the start of 1997, replacing the older analog technology.
