I think the term losing should be in quotes. I don’t think we’re going to continue with the military bases throughout Europe and the Middle East, including Israel and we certainly don’t want to leave any military infrastructure intact when it comes to the strait of Hormuz. Trump and future presidents will be following the Monroe/Donroe doctrine and making sure US has western hemisphere dominance.
I think he’s using the term “losing” to make his point, but I expect that this war will be won in a very unconventional sense. I expect that once the dust clears, we’ll find that both Iran and Israel have been significantly weakened (perhaps set back decades with both leaders eliminated). A new alliance will have been formalized amongst the gulf states to oversee the region with a path for long term stability set out.
I also expect to find out that the U.S. bases have also been destroyed beyond salvage. But if the plan is to leave the region (and Europe) then this isn’t a big deal in the long-run.
There’s also the macro effects of realigning the world energy distribution in Americas favor. The biggest win here being that they starve China and put the breaks on any expansionist plans of theirs.
If all this works out as it’s trending then it will be an incredibly beneficial to America on a number of fronts.
