I have tried to understand this as well. I don't have a good explanation and I would love to have one. Theres just not a single point made about it other than confusion..

Every drop of oil on the Globe is sold into the Global market and is the price that is set I guess by OPEC which sets the price per barrel... I know it's stupid.
