Basically, do exactly the opposite of what New York's Mamdani and other socialists, Communists, and progressives (remember that one?) do. Cut regulations and red tape,
YOU know this, but it's nice to read about a turn-around such as this one.

Milei’s deregulation sent rental supply up 170%.
Rental listings tripled.
200,000 vacant units came on market.
Buenos Aires housing went from Hunger Games to It’s a Wonderful Life.
Back in the United States, too many people do NOT understand this. Or economics generally:
Democrats are using housing affordability to win elections with policies that make it worse. To, ironically, win more elections.
They could copy Milei and fix it within a year. Unfortunately, their voters don’t understand this. And their donors and NGOs don’t want to understand it.
So expect more pain — and more Socialist wins — in blue cities and states.

Sounds like a Free market. Any chance of getting one in the US?
I'm hopeful!
Not likely a totally free market, but one much freer than what we have now.
It’s tragic that so few people understand why free markets work. This was normal US policy in the past.
As a landlord in the UK, I find this appealing. Right now the regulations are becoming so stringent and confusing that I'm tempted to spend a couple years evicting the tenants and then sell.
But the tenants are JWs, pay on time, up front, and their only fault is that they "don't want to bother" me with things that are faulty. As a result, the faults get much worse and cost me a fortune to put right.
Last year a leak eventually turned into rotten floorboards, which brought down part of a ceiling. I ended up paying for a new bathroom and ceiling repairs instead of a bit of tile grout.
"We didn't like to bother you. We put a bucket under the drip."
Yikes!
As a landlord I've lost more and more rights while being charged more and more. No fun anymore.
You sound like my landlord. He’s a good landlord, I’m a good tennant, we enjoy doing business.
We’ve had to sign a stupid new contract because of the new Renters Rights, but we’ve agreed on no rent increases until at least the new year with a handshake
Deregulation works for other things too, such as air fare:

Now we just need to get rid of the tsa and deceptive target based price gouging and air travel will become even cheaper
Wait he also told attorneys to get bent by removing half the reason they exist in first place.
