OK oil is based on a global price, but you are right. WE should not pay more for our OWN energy, b/c of risk premiums that others rightly have to pay for.
We consumers should BENEFIT from the US strength of energy independence and the black gold taken out of our own soil!
If Trump could just reverse this negative motivation, WE should be good, driving on $2. gasoline! WE SHOULD NOT CARE what the GLOBAL price of oil is! We should not have to care! We are energy independent and it is TIME for OUR prices to reflect that!
Why can't us citizens understand that we DO NOT get our oil from overseas? US gas prices are "price gouging" greedy companies right here in the USA.

California does get about 70% of its oil overseas. Ridiculously.
The US imports 40% of its oil, the majority of that from Canada.
