An academic paper published in Chinese Studies reveals that Zhao Ziyang, who served as Premier of China from 1980 to 1987 and General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party from 1987 to 1989, was a descendant of the Kaifeng Jewish community — one of China's oldest Jewish populations dating back over a millennium.
The paper quotes Chinese officials warning that the information should not be disclosed to foreigners, stating: "You should not spill out this message to foreigners. It would be no good to say China as such a large country should have a Jewish descendant premier." Zhao Ziyang was purged from the CCP in 1989 after opposing the Tiananmen Square crackdown and spent his final 16 years under house arrest until his death in 2005. The revelation adds another layer to understanding both China's suppressed Jewish history and the CCP's sensitivity about ethnic identity among its leadership.
It is little known that helpful Jewish figures greatly assisted, some might say fully directed the Chinese to implement communism (with all its benefits for the common folk). Names such as Sidney Shapiro who was in charge of propaganda, and Israel Epstein, Mao Tse Tung’s minister of appropriations (Finance).
It was "Yale in China" (Skull and Bones) too, who helped Mao Zedong rise to power from his humble beginnings. The University is named for the wealthy Elihu Yale who donated lavishly from money made in colonial adventures with the British East India company (diamonds, slavery). Yale was set up by a group of Congregationalist ministers and along with Yale, some, along with Yale, appear to be crypto-Jewish names (e.g. Israel Chauncey, Abraham Pierson, Samuel Mather, Noadiah Russell)
They meant well, of course, and as in Russia and Ukraine, the mass death was down to others and nothing to do with them, their concern was only for prosperity, which they sincerely thought communism would deliver.
