Sure, they don’t want conservatives to have the ability to use an actual visual from the burned area to show dem tards that the Palisades are still not being rebuilt.
Also, probably to keep Pratt from using those visuals to make Bass look even worse in his next campaign video.
I believe google Maps is a derivative from Google Earth, which is a much more data heavy program. the purpose was to mak it accessible to hand-held devices.
Was there a time when the maps app showed the burned properties, ever?
My guess is: Nobody has updated the app, and those updates are not possible to update, live - a human has to make that decision. For obvious reasons.
Yes, the map apps did show the burned properties. From the article:
Wait, never mind — they most certainly did. Here’s what Realtor.com reported in February 2025:
Google Maps’ satellite images have revealed the catastrophic scale of the Los Angeles wildfires as UCLA economists reveal that the two largest blazes may have caused up to $164 billion in property and financial loss.
Igniting in early January, the Palisades and Eaton fires, driven by powerful Santa Ana winds, scorched through a combined total of more than 37,000 acres. By the time the blazes were finally contained more than three weeks later, they killed at least 29 people and ravaged over 16,240 homes and businesses.
Yes I saw it on there last year. I was surprised it had been updated so quickly but you could click down streets and see large areas that were completely burned.

...nothing to see here...
...move along...
...if it was only that simple...
You can usually see a number of different views by year at the bottom of your screen.
Has anyone tried messing with that?
On google maps it says 2026 in the Pacific ocean
