Boomer here. Let me throw this out for consideration. We lived at home with the family until the day we got married. None of the guys I knew had apartments after they graduated college. They went back home. Neither did the girls. What we saved by not shelling out monthly rent went into a nest egg that started out our married life.
All these kids nowadays pay exorbitant amounts for rent and wonder why they have no money left to start married life out with a cushion.
