I want to know just how the hell they are able to get money for "autism", when even getting an Autistic child a school placement is a long, arduous task. I have an autistic grandchild, and it was necessary to first get a legitimate diagnosis from an
MD, and follow up with numerous child study teams, and interviews. The documentation was thorough and time consuming. BTW, no one is throwing money her parent's way, and even getting Social Security Disability payment was a very lengthy process, and the monthly amount is miniscule.
I understand your frustration. And I hope things will get easier for your family as you navigate the system. Try to make acquaintances among parents of older handicapped children in your area. They may be able to guide you toward additional resources.
