This is the part a lot of people don't get. Quasi-random political violence makes lots of people afraid to attend events like these. They wouldn't be doing it + covering it up if it didn't work. Sure, it redpills centrists over time, but they never thought their communist revolution attempt would run for this long.
In the average normie democrat's mind, when ICE shows up, the rioting and mayhem happens. Remove ICE and the problem goes away. The "protesting oppression" narrative has been heavily engrained.
It might not have even been a direct threat. Have someone (with access) embedded in a platform leak their location, and get in front of them and drive weird/slow. Even if they're caught, it's impossible to justify a search warrant over 30 seconds of bad driving.
