I've always thought (and have read elsewhere) that the number 144,000 in Revelation was an allegorical number meaning "many beyond count."
It is estimated that 117 billion people have lived on Earth. 144,000 is approximately 0.0001231% of 117 billion. . So a literal reading of 144,000 would represent only about 0.0001231% of humanity would be saved. If we take the 144,000 literally, over the centuries of Christianity, that number of true believers, or "the elect," would have been reached somewhere in the Byzantine-to-Medieval era.
The square root of 144 is 12. There were 12 tribes of Israel. Don't know if this is pertinent, but I thought it was noteworthy.
12,000 from each tribe of Israel are chosen, and sealed to preach the word of God. Most, if not all are killed for their faith.(Rev. 7, 3-8 & Rev 14, 1-5)
Yup, and this happens while they are still alive and on earth.
The 144 may just be the ones who’ve ascended over the ages, while the meek inherit the Earth.

Sounds a lot like Jehovahs Witness theology. Yes there is an incredible cloud of witnesses/martyrs that have gone before us but ultimately God wants EVERY soul with him in eternity. Revelation also says we can all be conquerors. Choose God, choose life. Everyone is welcome.

The symbolism is the bride.
Each soul is the bride of Christ, in union with Jesus Christ. The soul as female goes way back in spiritual symbolism and understanding. That carnal mind chokes on gender issues.

I still find it interesting that the person who created the meme, and apparently those who created the 'symbolism' that inspired it, all chose to portray women as being saved and men as being damned.
Thank you for pointing out the carnal nature of my mind for believing that my soul is definitely male, not female, and that such gender distinctions are important. I will most likely be damned for not believing that my soul is a female soul trapped in a male body.

It's all men, the kings of the earth of each soul, hiding behind rocks and in dens. The adamic man is condemned to death in Paul, and in the book of Revelation. The ascended church is bride, in Paul and in the book of Revelation. The symbolism is solid according to Paul and the book of Revelation.

Paul teaches the carnal church to walk in spuritual realm. Pneumatikos is things of the Spirit.
The church @Corinth came across as carnal. Paul constantly shows the difference between the carnal church and the spiritual ascended church in many of His writings.
The word flesh is the word carnal. Same word, same meaning. The flesh and the Spirit are contrary to oneanother, so they don't walk together, the soul is either walking in one or the other. The Christian soul must learn the difference in order to walk in Christ.
Oh wretched carnal man that I am! Paul never ministered from the wretched carnal man that he was. Paul always made sure to minister from perfection, from the Holy Spirit that brought King and kingdom to his life.
Each individual Christian soul learns to walk in the Spirit and minister in the Spirit.
YOU ARE NOT IN THE FLESH. You are in the Spirit. That is where you minister from. You minister in the Spirit. That is what Paul is teaching the 1 Corinthians 3 carnal church in 1 Corinthians chapters 12-14.
Here Paul's entire message to the Christian church in one verse: Ephesians 1:3 "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ"
Paul reinforces the spiritual reality of the ascended church in Ephesians chapter 4.
The measure of the gift of Christ is each individual Christian soul walking in the new creation kingdom Spirit. And here is the whole spiritual ministry:

The prophesies about Jesus's first coming --- over 300 of them --- were all fulfilled LITERALLY just as they were written in the scriptures. Born of a virgin, born in Bethlehem, would be from Nazareth, would be called out of Egypt and on and on. All fulfilled LITERALLY so WHY would the 144,000 be any different? Scripture says there will be 12,000 from each of the tribes of Israel. Why would you think this means anything other than 12,000 each from the tribes of Israel. There will be 12 gates to the Holy City named after the 12 tribes of Israel. The foundation stones will be named for the 12 Apostles. It says what it means.
That's a carnal read. That makes the book not apply to the individual Christian soul today.
For the spiritual reading Revelation 1:3 "the time is at hand" applies right now for the individual Christian soul in Christ.
The Spirit and the Bride say, Come! That is King and kingdom to each individual Christian soul.
The book of Revelation is not set in physical time.

I read it just like I read the rest of the Bible---for what it says. I don't read it and try to make it read something else.
The Book of Revelation is the revealing of Jesus Christ. Jesus tells John to write the things you have seen, the things that are and the things hereafter. Rev.1:19
The things John saw are in chapter one---the things that are is the churches in chapters 2 and 3.
Rev.4 starts with---AFTER these things---after the church is in Heaven.
In Chapter 1, the candlesticks are the churches---in Jesus's hand and chapter 2 and 3 they are on the earth, in chapter 4 they are in Heaven. The 24 elders are those redeemed by the blood of Jesus---that is what it says. They are in Heaven BEFORE Jesus starts opening the seals.
You don't add to or take from this Book.
Revelation 1:1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:
2 Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw.
3 Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words(logos) of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.
The time is at hand my friend.
The logos of this prophecy is not set in physical time. The logos of this prophecy is not carnal. The logos of this prophecy blesses those that keep the prophecy. There is only one way to keep the logos of the prophecy of the book of Revelation, and that is in the timeless realm of the kingdom in Christ.
Just consider you might not have been taught this yet. It is the spiritual interpretation of the book of Revelation.

I'll stick with what the book says. The book is not of any private interpretation. This book is explained all through the Bible from Genesis on.
Don't add to or take away. You are adding physical time, and physical happenings to a living prophecy that is at hand.
The prophecy is at hand when you hear the logos. When you hear the logos, you can keep the logos.
