Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evolving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
Rules For the rest of the Site also accessible on the sidebar.

You need to explain this
It's a personal feeling. I've ridden as a Los Angeles motorcycle Courier for roughly 800,000 Mi over the past few decades. Motorcycles are an iconic dream of freedom and mental health and courage in One Direction and all the tragedy you can imagine in another Direction. Every new Milestone went both ways beginning with fire
This is nice fren, thanks for sharing this.
I have come to this realisation as well, and your motorcycle analogy perfectly fits with this. I always use the example of Internet, or guns or railroads etc, but the reality is that every technological progress is inherently both postive and negative because technology changes status quo and change can be good or bad depending on how to use it.
You have already pointed out how to ensue LLMs can be used positively and get wrangled by them - education, or rather, to generalise it even more - discernment.
Discernment was necessary to make the best use of Internet, and of Social Media, or computers and now with LLMs as well. Ability to not believe anything unless you can confirm it yourself, or use your powerful intuition guided by the spirit.
When I first heard you mention motorcycle I was taken back to a book I read decades ago called "Zen and the art of motorcycle". Of course, I have forgotten everything in that book except for the feeling that I enjoyed that book and it had some wisdom. Perhaps its time to write the book "Zen and the art of Llamas"
As ridiculous as this might sound, and I guess it's because I'm ADHD off the charts, and I don't know how that works with motorcycling, but every time I stumbled across that book title, and every time I attempted to figure out what it was about, I either got distracted or lost interest before I got to the punchline. I just looked it up again and I guess the title is a classic bait and switch, because it has nothing to do with Motorcycle Maintenance or Zen however it sounds like an intriguing read. Maybe I should write a book about how motorcycling sharpens the senses and speeds decision making.
I am sure when I read that book in my late teens, I never understood a word, but felt it was pretty cool lol
