On July 4, 2025, 11 members of a North Texas Antifa cell launched a planned attack on the Prairieland Detention Center. They conducted reconnaissance earlier that day, assembled dozens of firearms, body armor and military-grade medical kits, then disabled CCTV cameras and threw explosives to draw officers outside for a massacre.
Lt. Thomas Gross answered the 911 call. Bodycam footage captured an attacker yelling “get to the rifles” before the group opened fire. Gross took a bullet through the neck that exited his back yet kept fighting. The attackers were arrested and convicted of charges including attempted murder. A jury handed down sentences ranging from 30 to 100 years.
The response directly rebuts claims that the defendants merely moved magazines or faced protest-related charges, stating the evidence showed a coordinated conspiracy with intent to kill law enforcement.
