Once again, Ron Paul has framed this incorrectly.
He stated the president must go through Congress when "declaring a war "
President Trump started a war against Iran in violation of the US Constitution’s requirement that only Congress can declare war. There must be a reckoning for our elected leaders who violate their oath of office, the Constitution, and simple common sense.
However, this shows bias. / Because...
A president can only order military action without prior congressional approval in self-defense, specifically during sudden national emergencies resulting from an attack on the U.S., its territories, or its armed forces. However, this power is strictly limited by law.
Surely there's an argument to be had that Trump felt this was a national emergency. And that having had Americans detained or killed in Iran in the past warrants military action. Not to mention the nuclear capability (they) have been threatening for decades.
And Ron Paul knows that this Congress would never approve anything this president attempted.
So he's obfuscating the truth based on his personal beliefs, per usual.
