👉🏻 Link to yesterday’s post.

Holy Father, I am having an interesting week, mostly dodging snags at work. There’s a high turnover in that job because of the stress. I learnt two principles which I live by: the first is to always automate what can be. Even if it’s just setting an alias command to abbreviate a complex one, it’s already a step forward. The second principle made me at ease in that situation: never take anything personallly. Nobody has quite enough time for himself, so even an ad hominem rant would be a loss of time. I praise You for inspiring me this line of conduct and keeping me serene and focussed.

Religious Observances

In the Roman Catholic liturgical calendar, June 25 is observed as the optional memorial of Saint William of Vercelli (c. 1085–1142), an Italian nobleman who became a hermit, founded the Congregation of Montevergine (also known as the Benedictine Congregation of Monte Vergine), and served as abbot, emphasizing asceticism and monastic reform. William's life involved establishing monasteries in southern Italy, including the Monte Vergine abbey, where he promoted a rule of severe penance inspired by Saint Benedict, attracting numerous followers before his death from illness.

The day also commemorates Saint Prosper of Aquitaine (c. 390–455), a theologian and disciple of Saint Augustine who defended orthodox Christian doctrine against Pelagianism, authoring works like De vocatione omnium gentium that influenced papal teachings on grace and predestination. Additionally, the Roman Martyrology notes other figures such as Saint Dominic Henares (d. 1838), a Spanish Dominican bishop martyred in Vietnam during persecution of Christians, and Saint Eurosia (d. 9th century), a Spanish virgin martyr. These observances highlight themes of monastic dedication, doctrinal fidelity, and martyrdom, with local veneration varying by region; for instance, William's cult is prominent in Italy.
