They want free reign to declare and define reality however they feel, at the whims of fashion of political correctness. Example: In an interesting podcast a few years ago Dinesh D'Souza asked, in all seriousness, why are women on the left so ugly? Because they resent that there are standards of beauty. Their response is that of defiance: fully body tats, face tackle, neon hair, and pseudo-intellectual thought pieces. It's them saying: we - not I, but we, our like-minded gang - get to set the standards. Or more exactly, we get to destroy the existing standards. And you, the traditionalists, better conform to what we say or else. The defiance was relatively mild in 1990 at time of publication of The Beauty Myth and became increasingly fanatic as time went on. But in recent years with select-your-gender-at-age-ten garbage they went full bore at war with reality. If a nine year kid declares at school that she's a cat, everyone is supposed to play along with that. It's insane.
I'll tie it back. The reaction against Michele being exposed as Big Mike is not that it is factual, but that the wrong group of people is telling us what is real. Oh no no. That is not the way it's supposed to be.
