The Glacier View car launch started in 2005 with a moose-killed rig and has run every Fourth of July since, with vehicles painted red-white-and-blue launched off a 300-foot cliff at Glacier View River Retreat near the Matanuska. This year's semiquincentennial edition includes a Coast Guard flyover, and after the last car tumbles spectators descend on the wreckage for scrap metal.
