Is there a real possibility the growth of shell companies originating from Wyoming leading to no actual name or address contributing to fraud ? .. I think yes indeed.
“Wyoming has the highest LLC formation rate per capita (about 378 new companies per 1,000 adults in the past year per OpenCorporates’ analysis). “
“As of late 2025, Wyoming had over 1.2 million registered business entities, with a significant increase of about 50,000 new entities formed in 2023 alone, marking a 42% year-over-year increase. This trend indicates a growing popularity for LLCs in the state over the past decade.”
“A bill to require registered agents to keep more detailed information on file failed to advance in the Wyoming House of Representatives during the Legislature’s 2026 budget session.”
“Every year, the Sheridan Police Department, Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce and The Sheridan Press all receive calls from people concerned they’ve been scammed by businesses registered at 30 N. Gould St. The 4,125-square-foot office building in downtown Sheridan is the listed address for hundreds of thousands of limited liability companies. They’re not physically operating there but using registered agents that operate out of the building. Other locations in Sheridan County and Wyoming operate similarly.”
Any of you research this area ?
