That's an enlightening example. I'm storing that one away in my mental "horror files". Among other things it shows how companies and lower tier government departments such as city and county agencies are terrified of crossing the line of discrimination laws.
Which reminds me. From 2021 onward, as the horror show unfolded, I was watching and waiting to see when lawyers would file class action lawsuits against the Covid mandates, arguing that it constituted discrimination. And the answer was: absolutely zero.(*) Despite the laws on book and body of case law decisions making them one of if not the most powerful tool in a prosecuting attorney's entire arsenal of weaponry, the battle was never engaged. That taught me a lot. Lawyers have a shark-like sense for where the money floats, and a near zero sense of loyalty to their fellow man. (Medical licensing boards are primarily run by lawyers, not doctors, it turns out.) They also have a well honed ability to read the pragmatics of institutional power structures and know better than to challenge the federal government. Especially when it comes to vaccines they keep their heads below the parapet.
(*) The brave few of Tom Renz, Todd Callendar, and Jeff Childers argued against the vaccination mandates on other grounds.
