I spent a day traveling through Yellowstone about this time 10 years ago. Didn't actually see any bison, lots of elk though. People are idiots and terrible drivers out there and so many were foreigners. I would love to go back sometime as long as it was mostly Free from the Asian and Indian idiots.
My one memory is spotting a small herd of bighorns on a cliff side relatively close by, they were one of the more rare animals that most people don't end up seeing when they visit. Unfortunately as soon as I pulled off to grab a picture a thousand cars began making my retreat impossible. I don't know how long they had been there unseen and I'm sure all those people would have driven by and not noticed them but a lot of people got to see them there that day thanks to my good eyes and my reward was getting stuck for over an hour
wife and i got caught as a herd of them crossing the street in front of us, then around us, just feet away. They lingered along slowly as if they owned the road. Some people got out of their cars to take pics, not a good idea being that close to them.
