Domestic terrorism doesn't require you to be affiliated with a terrorist organization. If they were giving money to people and were directing them to commit acts of violence or intimidation, they are already guilty of domestic terrorism.
Identifying the group makes it easier to prosecute the leaders of the group after the fact.
That person could not be prosecuted for something done 3 years ago, otherwise you would have an ex post facto law which is banned by the constitution. They can only be held accountable after a law is put into effect or a rule is published in the federal register. From then forward, they are deemed to have knowledge of the law/rule.
Treason is treason no matter when it was committed. Antifa has committed treason by staging violent protests in the name of a lawfully arrested fellon. Furgesson riots, that happened in Buttigegs district are an example of treason because the protests were encouraged by media misinformation to destablize the local government. Media sedition to hide treason by the media owners and the 7th floor CIA.
the word Q uses is: "KNOWINGLY." This shows motive.
But then there is: "ignorance is no excuse."
Up for the DOJ to determine, I guess.
There is always some kind of statue of limitations, too.
So, we'll need to wait and see.
