No he thought for the POUM militia in the spanish civil war an explicit marxist organisation. And well he did identify as a socialist in road to wigan pier, as we all know in Marx theory socialism is the step before communism. In the theory communism actually comes as a result of socialism.

So you think someone going to fight a war, literally risking their life for ideology doesn't mean they support him. Just so you know in his book Homage to Catalonia (another great read of his) it talks about his experience fighting for the POUM militia an explicitly Marxist organisation. And whilst George orwell did see the dangers of how communism could turn into authoritarianism (which it did under Stalin, he was right) he still stated he believed socialism to be the best course of action. And if you understand socialism you understand that socialism is the step before communism lol. Idk how i'm a shill lol i just hate when people say Orwell hated communism because he wrote 1984. I'm a big fan of orwell and he was a huge proponent of socialism lol.

You do know george orwell was a communist and he literally fought on the side of the communists during the spanish civil war. He also wrote many books advocating for communism most notably road to wigan pier (highly recommend reading if anyone wants to know what true laisse faire capitalism looks like)
