I work for a private company, who is a federal contractor with >100 employees. We are required to get vaxed by 12/8, except for religious and/or medical accommodation. I just got over the Coof, and I will not get the jabs to keep my job. This leads to some questions:
1 - Should I request religious, medical, or both exemptions?
2 - What are the best resources to gather arguments for my exemption request?
3 - What are the best sites to look for a new job?
I'm an embedded software developer, which can be done remotely in many cases.
I just tested positive for the Coof, but thought I had strep throat the past few days. Thus far nobody else in my family has been sick since then. Here's the back story:
- My wife had the worst flu ever in December 2019, up wheezing and barely able to breathe in the middle of the night. She tested positive for flu A and recovered.
- About a week later my older daughter got a 24-hour flu, then had almost a miraculous recovery after sleeping all day.
- My younger daughter and I didn't get sick at all. After some time I concluded that we had been exposed to Covid-19, and we all had natural immunity thereafter.
- Later my older college-age daughter gave in to peer pressure and got vaxed without telling me, while the other three of us have not been vaxed.
- Last week my younger college freshman daughter got quarantined 2X by the university. The first time was from exposure to a vaxed classmate, so she stayed at the dorm and then she was cleared by a negative test on Wednesday. That same day her vaxed roommate tested positive, so she had to quarantine again and came home that afternoon.
- Last Tuesday evening I helped my vaxed neighbor drop a vehicle at the airport, then rode back home with her for 30 minutes. She works for the state dept. of health testing people for Covid several days a week, and she has no symptoms now.
- Last Wednesday evening I got a dull headache and body aches, then woke up with a 99.9 fever and sore throat the next day. Since then I've had a sore throat, headaches, and low-grade fever when not taking Ibuprofen or Tylenol.
- I've been taking Vitamin B12/C/D, NAC, Zinc, and Quercetin regularly, just added horse paste after the second day of fever.
- Finally today I went to get a strep test and they also gave me a Covid test, and you guessed it--strep was negative, Covid positive. The doctor offered no treatment, just suggested to get Mucinex D and lie on my belly several times a day. She said she can't prescribe Ivermectin because it's not FDA approved, but she gave me the contact for an antibody trial going on in town.
- I called and got into the antibody trial because of high blood pressure and being overweight (BMI 25), though I'm 6'1" and 190 pounds. I still feel about the same after treatment, but maybe a bit more brain fog this evening.
- My wife and both daughters were home with me over the weekend, still none of them has any of my symptoms. Unfortunately my wife has been quarantined for 20 days from her school job, because she is unvaxed.
This leads to some questions:
1 - Is it more likely I got the Coof from my vaxed neighbor on unvaxed daughter or some unknown contact? I vote for the neighbor.
2 - If we had natural immunity, does this mean the vaxed neighbor passed me a new variant or viral shedding?
3 - Why have I not passed this on to my family members? Maybe it's too early to tell, but I would think they should have gotten sick by now.
