Im in a similar situation, living in Canada, even the conservatives here are further left then average. Prior to the lockdowns I was involved in some groups including bitcoin and libertarian communities which I found online. I made some local like minded contacts, which was great.

My high school and old friend group through the years have gotten more and more strained with the constant propaganda they are being fed, especially in regards to the people who question the official narratives. In the past friends would come to me for my political opinions and admire the fact I was informed and engaged in these issues, but it seems they are getting more and more brainwashed them into hating anyone who goes against their narrative. On top of that a few of my friends went into post secondary (college / university) and were sufficiently lost forever to Marxism and a sense of self importance and grandeur for regurgitating propaganda. You should see their Facebook posts in which they attempt to come across as someone with a brain, yet it reads like every single msm talking points.

I have always been socially awkward and shy as it is, so having a passion for the truth and little tolerance for nonsense and lies makes things even harder when trying to socialize or make friends. I often think about how my life would be easier and even happier being ignorant or going’s along with the lie of the masses but I can’t. Once the veil has been lifted, there is no going back. It’s important we remember that.

"The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. To be your own man is a hard business. If you try it, you'll be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself." (Rudyard Kipling in 1935)
