Received this from my DR. Today:

I'd like to ask for your help today. As a physician and Health Policy Fellow, one of my great interests is looking out for the health and safety of my patients both in and out of the exam room. We need to stop a very harmful bill from passing through the Arizona legislature that would decrease your control over your personal health information.

Last session, thanks to your efforts and the efforts of others like you, this damaging proposal was defeated. Unfortunately, it has reemerged in 2023.

If passed, Senate Bill 1221 would seal into the law of Arizona statute aspects of former Governor Ducey's horrible Executive Order 2022-02 that are detrimental to patient privacy. This measure empowers a wide range of entities to have access and re-disclose your medical records — including your recent vaccination history and vaccination compliance — without your knowledge or permission.

Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at 2 pm, the Arizona State Senate Health and Human Services Committee will be holding a hearing that will include consideration of SB 1221.

Please join me in sending a note today to members of the committee. Ask them to protect patient privacy and VOTE NO on SB 1221.

AAPS, a medical organization to which I belong, has provided an easy email link for you and I to get a message on the way with a couple clicks using the following link:

Other ways you can help:

If you have an RTS account at azleg.gov, please "sign in" and formally register your opposition to SB 1221. Consider testifying at the hearing in person if you can make it to the Capitol on February 7, 2023. Thank you for speaking out. Your voice makes a powerful difference!
