Imagine not understanding that population control means reducing infant mortality and raising women out of poverty, because women have fewer babies later in every developed country where kids don't die in infancy. So the old Malthusian argument that we should let poor babies die young because otherwise there will be a population explosion is stupid and just an excuse to do nothing.

It's hard to imagine people not understanding that, because they keep explaining it in the simplest possible terms for the broadest possible audience, yet here we are.
