But they still all signed away that right when they joined as I previously mentioned... and they know it.

If you stay out of south Florida everything here is cheaper. The only wash is hurricane (home) insurance is expensive but property tax is cheap. There property tax is expensive and house insurance is cheap. So that's a wash. Plus there is no State income tax here. And after retirement age there is no property tax here.
