Prayer is communication with God. But it is more for your own benefit to explicitly state what you are trying to say to God. God knows what you are praying before you pray it.
As for miracles, you're currently able to communicate with me from anywhere in the world using a device that people 2,000 years ago never dreamed of. You can even fly over here on a plane (you may have to book two seats for your wide girth but you can still do it). All these great advancements happened during the Christian era and almost all invented in Christian nations. Watch what happens when you throw that righteous faith out the window.
