Little Thorn and I are going back up to south dakota to my dad's.. they have sold their house, literally over night and their new house in Alabama is half the size.. We have to go up and get family heirlooms and i will be bringing them home in a uhaul.

I wondered if any Frens could send prayers our way.. This will be his last move.. His wife wants to be closer to her son (Alabama) which is a bit closer for us to visit which is good.. however, not sure if you remember but my dad fell and broke his c1 in 3 places last year and his condition never really got markedly better.

My mother in law says he is starting to get just overall frustrated.. they weren't able to do anything to fix his neck and he is in a collar for the rest of his life and may need to go into assisted living soon.. and of course my oldest son just had that open heart surgery so he can't help and my younger son is in high school and a bunch of sports so little Thorn and I are going to be doing this pretty much solo.. I have one friend nearby up there who can help me with little Thorn and some loading the truck..

I managed to break my big toe Sunday tripping over a laneline phone cord and pretty much everything is furniture and in their basement..

I am going to have to put everything in a storage unit when i get home because i am waiting on an apartment to open up this summer up the street from my job..

It's owned by a sweet little Catholic chapel and they have a marvelous Montessori an k-8 school i hope to enroll little miss Thorn in next january for preschool. It is two blocks from my job and the students there come once a month and swim at my pool so it would be just the perfect set up...

If it hadn't happened so fast!

They LITERALLY put it on the market and it sold overnight. . None of us had time for preparations..

We leave Wednesday evening.. have a pretty late four hour layover in Chicago.. definitely after our usual bedtime 😅

Anyways.. thank you so much for keeping us in mind.. it is a roller-coaster for sure.. i have a promotion pending.. will be certifying to teach classes as an instructor for silver sneakers (seniors) and to train lifeguards and CPR for different things like kids who want to babysit etc..

I have to take a surprise week off work and they're scrambling to cover for me because i work at 4:45am Monday-Friday and that is generally a hard slot to cover 🙃 it works perfect for me but not so much for high-schoolers or my boss who lives a county over and has two boys in different schools she has to coordinate drop off etc for..

Not to mention missing work and the crazy unexpected expenses.. going to be rough.

We have to go up and get family heirlooms and I will be bringing them back to Kentucky in a uhaul. It's over a thousand miles and the truck rental alone is well over a thousand dollars... not including gas or anything like food or a room for the night on the way..

Today was payday but i can't pay my regular bills and rent the truck and pay for the gas.. The one way plane ticket was $350.. i have about $600 left from this paycheck with a bit more coming next week.. maybe another $300.

My mother in law says he is starting to get just overall frustrated.. they weren't able to do anything to fix his neck, the fractures won't heal because he is type 1 Diabetic and he is in a collar for the rest of his life.. he also may need to go into assisted living soon.. and my oldest son just had that open heart surgery to clean up scar tissue from two open heart surgeries he had as a baby (and again, thank you so much for the prayers and support! It was hard but he was allowed to stay in the peds ICU and went home three days early, I couldn't have asked for a better outcome...)

Of course, he can't help with the move and my younger son is in high school and a bunch of sports so little Thorn and I are going to be doing this pretty much solo.. I have one girlfriend nearby up there who can help me with watching little Thorn and some loading the truck..

I help kids learn to swim and am certifying for teaching classes like water aerobics and certifying kids to be lifeguards and CPR certified babsitters etc and it is just a joy and blessing..

The apartment is owned by a wonderful little Catholic church and they have a marvelous Montessori and K-8 school I hope to enroll little miss Thorn in next January for preschool. Moreover, their students come once a month and swim at my pool so we are just really getting involved with the church and the community..

Our prayers were answered..

My son was in surgery about 8 hours.. he got to his room in the peds ICU about 12 hours post initial registration.. pretty long day for all of us 😅

The procedure went well, his nurse told me he woke up and said he felt "wonderful" this morning.

Today he will try to walk a bit and I am making him an epic smoothie because he loves those.. i am getting him all his favorite foods this week 😋😁

Thanks everyone for your prayers and messages.. it really means the world to us.

He has a rough stretch ahead recovering but he is so strong and hopeful. Precious little man..

Lastly, does anyone have any post surgery wound advice on how best to minimize scarring? Aloe.. mederma..
