China’s state-run Global Times on Wednesday uncorked a long, rambling editorial that accused “U.S. warmongers” of feasting on the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and other global conflicts, like profiteering “vampires.”
The screed was accompanied by an illustration of President Joe Biden, dressed like a portly iteration of Dracula, feeding a Ukrainian flag into a meat grinder to produce stacks of dollar bills in place of sausage:
The implication is China is pretty clear on who is actually in charge.
Pax Americana is dead and we have killed it.
Russia in the 1990s was a wreck. In the wake of the fall of the Soviet Union, Russia’s government became a puppet state of America and the West and its economy was a monumental disaster. People stopped getting paid, monthly inflation was in the double-digits, life savings disappeared overnight, banks disappeared overnight. The fertility rate plummeted, along with life expectancy, with over five million excess deaths recorded over the decade—mostly from deaths of despair.
During post-Soviet privatization, large state enterprises were sold for pennies on the ruble to the politically well-connected, which is how most of the oligarchs acquired their fortunes. And politically well-connected Americans made fortunes in Russia as well.
In order to balance supply and demand in the domestic precious metals market, the Bank of Russia will buy gold from credit institutions at a fixed price from March 28, 2022.
After the specified period, the purchase price of gold can be adjusted taking into account the emerging balance of supply and demand in the domestic market.
Even if the smallest country with the weakest currency were to use it, the stage is now set for broader adoption and decentralized payments taking over what was once a system exclusively denominated by dollar transactions. There is a choice now and it is going to further destabilize global trade.
Fast forward to today and people are now asking what to make of the revelation that Russia is beginning to implement something it and China have been working on for years. What does it mean? Today’s GoldFix Podcast focuses almost exclusively on the implications of these announcements in context of the above, and going forward. Here are the most relevant 2 minute clips broken out:

...how does a stacker move long distance? Asking for a guy I never met.
What kind of nation can allow that to go unanswered?
Whatever you think of Hawley, his thread really should be taken seriously. But rather than do that, Biden supporters are lining up to discredit Hawley. Psaki tied him to Roy Moore, and the Center for American Progress’ Ian Milhiser is comparing Hawley’s thread to “Pizzagate.”
I imagine Mitch McConnell can't be happy about Josh Hawley turning the Ketanji Brown Jackson confirmation hearing into a free-for-all for people who think John Podesta is running a sex trafficking ring out of Comet Ping Pong.https://t.co/r9Q4u54e08

Following multiple reports of high casualties among Western combatants who have poured into Ukraine since the outbreak of hostilities there on February 24, a veteran of the NATO intervention in Afghanistan from the Royal Canadian Infantry’s 22nd Regiment has reportedly been killed in action. Having served from 2009 to 2011, the sniper known in Arabic as Wali - or ‘the Guardian’ - subsequently traveled to Iraq and volunteered with Kurdish militias to fight the Islamic State terror group. The sheer number of kills gained against Iraqi and Afghan insurgents gained him the title of NATO’s deadliest sniper - with some reports indicating that he had a record of 40 kills in a day. An active sniper under normal combat conditions would do well to gain more than 5-6 kills.
Carrying a Finnish-built Lapua Magnum .338 sniper rifle, the Canadian was reportedly killed within days of entering Ukraine by Russian forces although the circumstances of his death remain unknown. This comes as military facilities near Ukraine’s borders with NATO member states have come under Russian missile strikes at times killing dozens of foreign fighters. Citizens from Western countries have primarily for ideological reasons travelled to Ukraine in considerable numbers to fight Russian forces, although they have been dismissed in Russian state media as mercenaries. Like ‘the Guardian,’ those going have often had military experience.
Amid ongoing hostilities between Russian and Ukrainian forces, the latter’s most potent air defence system the S-300 has gained its first kills. Following reports on March 3 that eight Romanian military personnel had been killed, with a single MiG-21 fighter and IAR 330-Puma helicopter crashing killing both the pilot of the first and seven crew of the second, it was reported that Ukrainian S-300 batteries were responsible for shooting down one and possibly NATO aircraft in an incident of friendly fire. This was hardly the first incident where Romania inadvertently became involved in the Ukrainian conflict, with a Ukrainian Su-27 pilot fleeing to the country on the first day of the war with his fighter and being intercepted by Romanian Air Force F-16s. Questionable training in the Ukrainian Air Force, with a recent history of multiple accidents including reported friendly fire downing a Su-27 over Kiev in the war’s opening hours, have made the possible downing of two Romanian aircraft far from an isolated incident. Perhaps the most notable precedent was the downing by an older Ukrainian S-200 system of Siberia Airlines Flight 1812 over the Black Sea in October 2001, which killed all 78 civilians onboard.
The US was rocked by a military and diplomatic earthquake on Monday after Chinese leaders revealed that the Middle Kingdom has constructed an N-bomb capable of reaching the mainland United States, and is prepared to use it.
“If America persists in imposing its imperialist designs on China and the Chinese people, then China will not hesitate to respond with immediate deployment of the N-bomb,” Xi Jinping said in a speech to the Communist Party Congress.
j/k you can't. BTW, same goes for the rest of the EU.

That is all. Carry on.
Gotcha! I'll add a shitpost tag.
Among the many precedents set by the Covid pandemic is the requirement to be vaccinated before you’re allowed to travel and that’s set to become a global standard.
The World Heath Organization, which had such a great pandemic, wants to ‘facilitate’ its 194 member states to introduce digital vaccination certificates. To do so it’s setting up a ‘gateway’ to standardize the issuing of QR codes that confer privileged health status to their owner. Deutsche Telekom subsidiary T-Systems has been chosen as an industry partner to develop the vaccination validation services.
“Open your eyes,” the online post began, claiming, “Many in our govt worship Satan.”
That warning, published on a freewheeling online message board in October 2017, was the beginning of the movement now known as QAnon. Paul Furber was its first apostle.
The outlandish claim made perfect sense to Mr. Furber, a South African software developer and tech journalist long fascinated with American politics and conspiracy theories, he said in an interview. He still clung to “Pizzagate,” the debunked online lie that liberal Satanists were trafficking children from a Washington restaurant. He was also among the few who understood an obscure reference in the message to “Operation Mockingbird,” an alleged C.I.A. scheme to manipulate the news media.
A federal judge on Monday tossed out Sarah Palin’s libel case against the New York Times – while the jury was still deliberating.
The lawsuit centered around a New York Times op-ed that falsely implicated Palin’s political action committee (PAC) for “political incitement” in the shooting of former Rep. Gabby Giffords.
The judge set it up.
