Minnesota National Guard has been activated and is now arriving in Minneapolis following the fatal shooting of 37-year-old Alex Jeffrey Pretti by a federal Border Patrol agent on Saturday morning, January 24, 2026.

I like to use the term Native Sons of Greenland as it includes everyone (Female and Male) born on the island. Native Sons of Greenland are the only ones who has the moral right to decide what to do with Kalaallit Nunaat. This is why they are a self-governing country within the Danish Realm. There is absolutely no need for US claiming Greenland for reasons of national security period. This is most likely true reason, an estimated 36.1 billion tons of rare earth elements,reserves equivalent to 28.43 billion barrels of oil,minerals such as lithium, graphite,and copper are present in quantities deemed vital for the global energy transition.
Mining and drilling in Greenland would be a serious complicated and challenging due to extreme environment. This environment is also very vulnerable to any interaction. As kids we used to run stepping on naked rock only as we instinctively knew to avoid lichen and other fauna. Lichen after damage will take 10-22 years to recover.

Under the 1951 Greenland Defense Agreement, the United States has the authority to construct, install, maintain, and operate military bases across Greenland, house personnel, and control landings, takeoffs, anchorages, moorings, movements, and operations of ships, aircraft, and waterborne craft within designated defense areas.
The U.S. exercises exclusive jurisdiction over these defense areas, including authority over offenses committed by U.S. military or civilian personnel and their families, though it may turn over individuals for trial to Danish authorities.
The agreement allows the U.S. to freely use and move between defense areas, provided it does not infringe upon Danish sovereignty.
