I am compelled to post, even though this is probably a preaching to the choir subject. Everywhere I go I am hearing about the shortages of gifts for "the children" and how their Christmas will be ruined. I cringe every time I hear the words buy now. Do not let them get in your head about shortages, disappointment or spending money now.

Kids learn to celebrate holidays and learn their traditions from the parents. If you have spoiled them and raised their expectations of gifts then it is the time to have a talk with them and tell them you are starting some new traditions and that only gifts from the heart will be given and the day will be all about the family.

All kids want their parents time and attention. For just one day put all your focus on your immediate family. Put on Chrismas carols and let them play in the background all day. Set your table as though Jesus were coming to dinner. Insist everyone dress up a little. Say grace. Help everyone make their own special dish or dessert. Play board games, go for a family walk or bike ride, build a snowman, drink hot chocolate, find a quiet15 minutes to talk to each of your kids and ask them questions about who they are, who they admire, what they like and dislike, etc. Do what makes sense for your family to make it heartfelt and memorable and dont fall for the doom and gloom of the evilers.

I just need to rant for a minute as I spent time with some people that I guess are now "former" friends as the vax discussion got a little out of hand.

As soon as Hillary LOST, the left instantly started their RESIST agenda. They all used it every day at every opportunity to resist Trump and the right. They never let up, every tweet attacked, every move he made, every word he said they fought and fact checked and drug him and his people through hell.

Most of us are not spiteful like that, but it is time for us to loudly RESIST right back at them. Stop wearing masks, start protesting the lies, do not be bullied into the jab, stand up against the cancel culture and start calling out the bullshit with our local, state and federal officials and calling for full audits on our election. Call out the local health people on the testing. Call out the local paper on their bias. Get out and support our local sheriff and law enforcement and let them know we are fighting for our future and our kids.

Have you ever wondered what happened to the 56 men who signed the Declaration of Independence?

Five signers were captured by the British as
traitors, and tortured before they died.

Twelve had their homes ransacked and burned. Two lost their sons serving in the Revolutionary
Army; another had two sons captured.

Nine of the 56 fought and died from wounds or
hardships of the Revolutionary War.They signed and they pledged their lives, their
fortunes, and their sacred honor.

What kind of men were they?
Twenty-four were lawyers and jurists. Eleven were merchants, nine were farmers and large plantation owners; men of means, well educated.

But they signed the Declaration of Independence knowing full well that the penalty would be death if they were captured.

Carter Braxton of Virginia, a wealthy planter and
trader, saw his ships swept from the seas by the British Navy. He sold his home and properties to pay his debts, and died in rags.

Thomas McKeam was so hounded by the British that he was forced to move his family almost constantly. He served in the Congress without pay, and his family was kept in hiding. His possessions were taken from him, and poverty was his reward.

Vandals or soldiers looted the properties of
Dillery, Hall, Clymer, Walton, Gwinnett, Heyward,Ruttledge, and Middleton.

At the battle of Yorktown, Thomas Nelson JR, noted that the British General Cornwallis had taken over the Nelson home for his headquarters. He quietly urged General George Washington to open fire. The home was destroyed, and Nelson died bankrupt. 

Francis Lewis had his home and properties destroyed.  The enemy jailed his wife, and she died within a few months.

John Hart was driven from his wife’s bedside as she was dying. Their 13 children fled for their lives.  His fields and his gristmill were laid to waste. For more than a year he lived in forests and caves, returning home to find his wife dead and his children vanished. A few weeks later he died from exhaustion and a broken heart.

Norris and Livingston suffered similar fates.

Such were the stories and sacrifices of the American Revolution. These were not wild-eyed, rabble-rousing
ruffians. They were soft-spoken men of means and
education. They had security, but they valued
liberty more. Standing tall, straight, and
unwavering, they pledged: “For the support of this declaration, with firm reliance on the protection of the divine providence, we mutually pledge to each other, our lives, our fortunes, and our sacred honor.” They gave you and me a free and independent America. The history books never told you a lot about what
happened in the Revolutionary War. We didn’t fight just the British. We were British subjects at that time and we fought our own government! Some of us take these liberties so much for granted, but we shouldn’t. So, take a few minutes while enjoying your 4th of July holiday and silently thank these patriots. It’s not much to ask for the price they paid. Remember: freedom is never free!

Is anyone causing mayhem or chaos on the streets?

Not trying to have a big rush to "it's happening" but this is unusual. I am in WA state near the Bangor Undersea Warfare station and Whidby Island (west of the Puget Sound) weather is mild about 50 degrees, no wind or ice, just light rain. My power has been out for over 2 hours and when just checking the outage map, I see that in the last hour nearly the whole county is has gone out. Power outages are common here due to wind, trees going down and things like that but given the mild conditions and the heightened awareness, I just wanted to comment on it. Any other outages around the country right now?
