Thought I'd share to get people's thoughts on what this means. This is the first time I've received this direction in terms of avoiding wearing a Coast Guard Auxiliary uniform. The Coast Guard Auxiliary IS a public outreach function for the Coast Guard!

Subject: Fwd: Auxiliarist Uniform Guidance During Heightened Force Protection

Below is guidance for Auxiliarists during the increased FPCON period due to the events in Iran.

1 – Auxiliarists should refrain from wearing their uniforms whenever in transit to/from assignments to duty (e.g., patrol launching locations; meetings for Auxiliary business, training, public outreach).

2 – Unless an Auxiliary flotilla, division, or district meeting is held on a federal, state, or local government facility (public schools and libraries included), Auxiliarists should refrain from wearing their uniforms for such meeting.

3 – Auxiliarists should limit or obscure the use of easily identifiable Auxiliary or military luggage markings and tags in the course of assignments to duty and personal business.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

V/R,

CDR Tyler E. Kelley Director of Auxiliary – Northern Region Coast Guard Northeast District 408 Atlantic Ave. Boston, MA 02110

What a great prayer by Father Z, asking God for His guidance out here on the internet!

Almighty and eternal God, who created us in Thine image and bade us to seek after all that is good, true and beautiful, especially in the divine person of Thine Only-begotten Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, grant, we beseech Thee, that, through the intercession of Saint Isidore, Bishop and Doctor, during our journeys through the internet we will direct our hands and eyes only to that which is pleasing to Thee and treat with charity and patience all those souls whom we encounter. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

My brothers and sisters, I believe that is critical in this time to turn to God. Not to put our trust in men. I feel like the words of Jonas ring true for this moment:

5 And the men of Ninive believed in God: and they proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth from the greatest to the least. 6 And the word came to the king of Ninive; and he rose up out of his throne, and cast away his robe from him, and was clothed with sackcloth, and sat in ashes. 7 And he caused it to be proclaimed and published in Ninive from the mouth of the king and of his princes, saying: Let neither men nor beasts, oxen nor sheep, taste any thing: let them not feed, nor drink water. 8 And let men and beasts be covered with sackcloth, and cry to the Lord with all their strength, and let them turn every one from his evil way, and from the iniquity that is in their hands. 9 Who can tell if God will turn, and forgive: and will turn away from his fierce anger, and we shall not perish?

Has anyone noticed how many performers are getting sick and having to cancel concerts. Off the top of my head, I've heard:

  • Morrissey
  • Peter Gabriel
  • Billy Joel
  • Rod Stewart

It just makes me think that there might be some signals/messaging out there telling folks to stay close to home.

I feel selfish asking, but I know that there are so many good, faithful, praying Christians here. I've been out of work since Aug 2024, and there doesn't seem to be an end in sight. I've been trying so hard to trust in God's will and trust his plan. It is very hard. Asking for your prayers during this difficult time in my life. Thank you brothers and sisters - may God bless you!!

Thought for today - Sirach 2:1-11

God's servants must look for temptations: and must arm themselves with patience and confidence in God.

1 Son, when thou comest to the service of God, stand in justice and in fear, and prepare thy soul for temptation. 2 Humble thy heart, and endure: incline thy ear, and receive the words of understanding: and make not haste in the time of clouds. 3 Wait on God with patience: join thyself to God, and endure, that thy life may be increased in the latter end. 4 Take all that shall be brought upon thee: and in thy sorrow endure, and in thy humiliation keep patience. 5 For gold and silver are tried in the fire, but acceptable men in the furnace of humiliation.

6 Believe God, and he will recover thee: and direct thy way, and trust in him. Keep his fear, and grow old therein. 7 Ye that fear the Lord, wait for his mercy: and go not aside from him, lest ye fall. 8 Ye that fear the Lord, believe him: and your reward shall not be made void. 9 Ye that fear the Lord, hope in him: and mercy shall come to you for your delight. 10 Ye that fear the Lord, love him, and your hearts shall be enlightened.

11 My children behold the generations of men: and know ye that no one hath hoped in the Lord, and hath been confounded.

I was feeling down and exhausted today, and in my prayers asking for God's help. Got a gentle nudge to listen to this song, which has always picked me up. Hope it helps all of my brothers and sisters in Christ this morning!

Exodus

The lyric that always hits me right in the heart:

*... So get up, and answer, when you hear the call

Don't be afraid to walk, just because you're gonna fall.

A man is not defined by how he acts in good times, But rather how we shine through the dark skyline.

And continues to climb, up the highest incline If you stumble, stay humble, God will help you rise

Never do it your way, do it Yaweh.*

Note: I don't own the song, nor rights to it. Downloaded long ago, I believe this is performed by some of the members of DeepSpace5
