8kun is a bit dangerous, take a VPN, be very careful not to Dox yourself. Do not fill out anything to post, a form asks informations of you but you need not provide it to post. Do not post until you lurk and figure things out some.
Lurk, cannot stress that enough. There are very bad actors in there, not many but it is a Hot War zone. Read and learn in there, but be very careful not to make yourself vulnerable to attack.
Read the threads on 8kun or the old chans if you like, but use protection, NEVER fill lout any forms asking for info, remain anonymous, use a VPN. But you can follow along and learn a lot of stuff, you do have to weed out the interference tho, and it can be heavy. Don't piss them off, don't be 'seen'.
It is 'safe' to visit and read, use a VPN, cannot stress that enough.
One further note on 8kun in addition to the recommendations posted here.
The older followers that stayed on past the 8ch -> 8kun deplatforming and domain-name stealing attacks had other ways of accessing the site other than the 'clearnet', which is to say, browsing to the site via its normal DNS name.. whether directly or via VPN service.
It can be accessed via TOR, either to the site directly (which uses the tor mesh-of-vpns style service, or even more securely, to its .onion site which is the tor native website publishing mechanism, the most secure way to browse on tor.
Lokinet is also an option, I tested this out in the days when attacks were coming in thick and fast and it worked, albeit was very slow. Though its likely faster now, it remains a harder method than tor to get working. So might not be what anyone is looking for unless the main site gets taken down or the 8kun DNS is hijacked again.
Details on how to connect are on Jim Watkins site, who is the site owner and father of Ron who you may know as the amazing CodeMonkey.
As for other linked sites, that's a very broad question and really isnt possible to answer in the general sense. Mainly, I would be very reluctant to visit any tinyurl style redirection service which disproportionately gets used to link people to malware and other malicious content.
This site is 100% safe, but there are no new posts since Nov 13.

It might be hard to browse on mobile, but I haven't ran into any issues on the site yet.
Depends what youre looking for and posting. Watch what you say and do unless connected to vpn and tor
8kun.top is completely safe.
There may a lot of graphical and textual shit on there but it's very safe.
Gotta learn to filter the diamonds from all the crap. Just like here.
