So let's say he did, in fact, resign. Why would he go out with such over-the-top words of praise?

If he's actually a black hat, is he now cooperating because he flipped and this is part of his deal, to say good things on his way out?

I don't think so. This whole thing is weird. Feels like maybe more to this than we may ever know.
