Ya, the MAC for nitrous oxide is like 104. I have seen people fall asleep at levels or around 70-80% although it would not be considered a general anesthetic, more of a moderate-deep sedation from which the patient can be easily aroused. You need over 100% to get general anesthetic, which means they won't get any oxygen and they will turn blue and die. Oral Maxillofacial Surgeon here. A bit of sevoflurane would work much better.
Oh I was in a dentists office... and I need N02 to get anything done... hate the dentist.
But the tech who turned it on, she open the valve, but it was open to everyone... the whole office was high for like 10 minutes before they figured it out.
I am not an anesthesiologist but it would seem to me that it would take a lot of NO2 to achieve that in that environment and those conditions....
