We have made this mess a thousand times worse by cowering to the insane.

Exactly. It's far past time to stop indulging these nutjobs. The first time we allowed them to get away with confusing "peaceful protest" with destroying property, threatening people, etc., we laid the groundwork for this shit. The first time we allowed people to put feelings above facts we paved the road we've been on. It's time to bust that road up and tell people to grow the fuck up.
